Better Balance thru Yoga
Balance not what it used to be? Worried, you may fall and hurt yourself? Then this evidence based program is just for you!
Based on a research study, designed and conducted by Physiotherapists from the School of Rehabilitation Science, at the University of Saskatchewan, this 12 week, yoga based program showed improvements in upper and lower body strength, balance, reaction time as well as perceived changes to ones quality of life.
This program includes a blend of basic yoga principles of mindfulness and breath control, combined with movement focusing on transitions up and down from the floor. Supportive props, such as a chair, wall, and yoga blocks are encouraged to ensure you feel safe in all movements at all times.
This program is designed to be inclusive for everyone. No prior yoga experience is necessary. I am not a “yogi” but through this training I have learned how to blend both my typical biomechanical approach with a yoga style practice and the result is a very effective program to help you build strength and improve balance.
Dates: 4 weeks- Fridays: January 31, February 7, 14 & 28 (2025)
Time: 10-11 am
Location: Cathedral Neighborhood Centre (290 13th Avenue)
Equipment needed: Yoga mat and large towel (beach towel works great)
Cost: $110
*Minimum number of participants for class is 6*
*I encourage you to register, even if you can’t make all classes. Even though the classes slowly build upon each other, there is a lot of repetition *
